Sommos Chardonnay 2023, Sommos Varietales Blanco 2023, and Alquez 2021 are the three wines from Bodega Sommos awarded gold medals at the 2024 Bacchus Awards, held in Madrid from April 15th to 19th. This renowned competition, organized by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC), enjoys international acclaim. This prestige now also accompanies the latest vintages of some of our winery’s most well-known wines.
Both Sommos Chardonnay 2023 and Sommos Varietales Blanco 2023 belong to the D.O.P. Somontano. The first is a single-varietal white Chardonnay, the most cultivated grape in this wine region of Aragón and a reference for the D.O.P. The latter one is an innovative blend of Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir that impresses with its assemblage, aromatic expressiveness, and freshness on the palate.
The third awarded wine, Alquez 2021, is the latest vintage of a single-varietal Garnacha from old vines that Sommos produces on its small estate in Murero (Zaragoza).
