Sommos Garnacha has been awarded three times at the 12th edition of “Grenaches du Monde,” the world’s most prestigious Grenache competition. The distinctions have been awarded to three wines from our winery’s 2021 vintage: Araia, Alquez, and Tiaso. Specifically, the competition, held in Paris this May, granted the highest distinction, the Double Gold Medal, to Aria 2021, a single-varietal Grenache from old vines grown on clay soils. Meanwhile, Tiaso 2021, from vines cultivated on slate soils, and Alquez 2021, made from grapes from different plots at over 800 meters above sea level, received the Gold Medal. These three awards add to other important recognitions received by Bodega Sommos in 2024, such as the Gold Medal at Mundus Vini and three Bacchus Awards just a month ago.
